Hi all,
I have bought one of these: https://www.fruugo.co.uk/modified-car-char...gJrl_D_BwE With the intention of replacing the cigarette socket. However, the new charger has two parallel spade pins, while the defender has a type 1 alternator plug (T shaped pins). I really don’t want to mess with the wiring and I guess having the T shaped pins is to prevent plugging in the wrong way round. Ideally, I would like to attach a male version of the type 1 plug to the charger and then simply plug into the existing wiring. However, I can’t seem to find a male version of the type 1 plug anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? 2011 CSW XS 90 |

Isn't the T shaped plug just two standard female blade connectors inside? If so, release them from the plug and just plug them in. You may need an insulated sleeve for the positive, or some heat shrink. Darren

^ Yes, it is. You can simply release the contacts from the shell and fit them into another suitable shell, or insulate them individually with heat-shrink.

That's a interesting USB outlet.... Be interesting to see how it fits in the dash, won't be for me if you have to open the hole out

No, it has two latching terminals inside. T shaped sockets are available (I use them on the "T" looms to piggy back from the lighter plug). I normally use the same plug as factory, with latching terminals; but in this case 2x shrouded female spades would be fine. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Martin on 18th Oct 2022 11:01am. As per my post above the connector is available from ebay via the link provided. I know this to be the correct connector as I purchased this very item personally to achieve exactly as you intend to do ![]() Click image to enlarge[/img] > 110 XS Double Cab |

Thanks for that link.... I'm going to get one of these so that I can take a accessory live to a relay without chopping wires

I choose that one because I’m a tart and wanted it to be green like the rest of the buttons / gauges

I have turned down various USB sockets to fit the Puma dash using my myford lathe. Usually need a mm or so turned off so they fit correctly to the Puma dash, and looks OEM. |

That's good, I'll happily turn down the socket rather than butcher my dash 👍🏻
