Well I was contacted this morning by Raptor Engineering and since I am already one of their customers they are willing to ship me one of their cubby boxes as long as I assume the risk for damages in transit. They are going to extra lengths to protect it in shipment so it will cost me an extra 20 pounds but I'm very happy to pay that to get one of their custom built cubby boxes. They do build really good stuff and I'm thrilled that they reached out to keep one of their customers happy.
The American built Tuffy boxes are pretty good but they don't fit exactly how I want them to (they were designed for Jeeps after all) and cost around $350 US. With the the shipping cost added the Raptor Engineering cubby is price competitive and fits better so I'm perfectly willing to spend a little more to get exactly what I want. I'll report back in when I get the box and install it in the few weeks I'm sure it will take to make it across the pond. Shipping to the US will be via Fedex for around 78 GBP so its admittedly expensive but its the size and shape I want so I wanted to give Raptor Engineering kudos for coming through. |

That's good news. I've bought some Raptor kit and it's excellent. Darren

I successfully placed an order with Raptor Engineering today for my new cubby box. I already have their dash binnacle and mount so I know they make quality products. I'm looking forward to replacing my stock cubby box with something more secure and useful. Since I'm a retired engineer that spent 24 years working on another kind of Raptor the name of their company sort of appealed to me.

I received my Raptor Engineering cubby box this morning and it arrived in perfect condition. Its a great size and I can't wait to fit it into my D90 later this week. I paid them an extra 20 GBP to slide some protective plywood panels into the box it ships in to protect it and it arrived without a scratch. Apparently they have had issues trying to ship these outside of the UK before but it worked perfectly for me. This is vastly superior in design and build quality to anything that is available here in the US so I'm very pleased with the results of my begging them to sell me one of their cubbies. These guys build some great stuff for Land Rovers and I highly recommend them.

Its just four bolts straight down through the seat base - easy to install - it took about an hour start to finish. I was getting ready for a camping trip today so I was cleaning out the inside of the Defender and I'm amazed at how much stuff this cubby holds - after a year of use I can say it was one of the best mods I've done to the truck. You've got more storage and hip room plus the arm rest pad is at the perfect height. When Raptor shipped my cubby box they slipped a couple of pieces of thin plywood into the cardboard shipping box to protect it and keep it from being damaged in transit - apparently they have had issues with that in the past. For me it was well worth the extra twenty pounds to have it shipped to the USA as there is nothing as good as this box in my experience. With the pound to dollar exchange rate so favorable I recommend it without reservations. Raptor Engineering builds great stuff! Click image to enlarge |

Looks like a great job well done 👍
And looking at your location, I’m pleased it all went well without ‘incident.’ |
