Starter motor?
Second issue of the day, is it normal that there is a gap between where the starter motor meets the bell housing? As in this pic. Trying to understand why I’m getting a knock on start up.

Googling for transit 2.2 starter motor, I see there is a foam gasket. So maybe is by design?
Was it hard to get that pic? I could check on mine.

It’s not too hard to get that pic, but it looks like it would be an utter pig to change the motor if it does fail one day! I think it’s normal, there is nothing loose and the gap is perfectly parallel.

^^ Yes, it is famously difficult (or should that be infamously difficult)!
