I bought a britpart one, it is not a critical part, so I thought how bad can it be? But once received, I found how utter rubbish it is. So I will be putting the original cable back it. It only has a small break on the outer cable, which I will cover with a bit of heat shrink.
I will measure the original cable (1988) this evening. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Many thanks Dinnu.
My thoughts were for something like. As it's an engine stop cable it would be used every time the truck is used, so I presume more hardy than the Britpart bonnet release. I would probably just remove the "pull to stop" engraving via sanding it off etc. I don't really think I need to add a bonnet release logo! There are different lengths available so hopefully I can get one of a suitable length without altering. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325105636450?mk...media=COPY |

Let me know if the uploaded pictures are not clear. There could be a small error as I was careful with my cable as would like to re use it.

No problem. It is also good to occasionally shift through all the scattered parts, then I refresh the memory of where everything is 😂
Just to note that there is no marking on the lever. There is a small metal P clip, if I remember correctly it goes under one screw of the turret cover on the inner mudguard. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Can't remember exactly what I did, but after buying my defender with a near seized bonnet cable I did swap some of the parts with bits from my pedal bike spares. Not sure if I replaced the cable inner or outer (I suspect the outer) but after looking at the cable I definitely thought 'this looks familiar ' and hey presto, a few cheap bits and a bit of grease/oil and now several years later I still have a perfectly functioning bonnet release......
