Alarm key fob replacement
Hello

I have a 2003 TD5 Defender and the alarm fob is beginning to fall apart... Where and how can I replace it?

Many thanks for the help.

Hi, you can find the fobs at your dealer or online, part number is YWX101230 I believe.

The fob will need to be paired with the Land Rover, a good Indy LR workshop will have the necessary diagnostic kit to do that for you.

You can buy just the case, and transplant the internals over.

YWX101010 for a genuine MG Rover part - possibly available from LR for about £5+VAT, other look for old MG Rover stock e.g.

Or plenty of options on eBay:

Hi Martin, will this also be OK for a 2011 Puma?
Cheers

If it helps anyone, I bought the remote key shown above and it worked perfectly when I set it up yesterday.

You literally plug the programmer into the OBD port for 30 seconds until the light goes out and that's it. My local key cutter cut the key from my original.

The remote feels like it has better range and I like the fact that it's an all-in-one unit which makes my key ring less bulky - all down to personal choice though! Smile TD5 hardtop to Puma inspired Poptop - my build thread
