Driving in sport mode, I wouldn’t have thought that would help mpg

Not my car, I do have a D240 and from what people tell me the i6 D250 is better all round but especially on the fuel economy front. Most of my runs are relatively short , less than 100 miles and often off-road in low range. I have another car that is more suited to shorter trips as it’s an EV. Yesterday I did two runs on the A9 at the speed limit on cruise control and the fuel figures were North bound 36.4mpg over 58 miles sat at 60 on cruise as I was way too early for a meet up north of Dunkeld. Southbound 32mpg over 77 miles at the National (mostly average speed cam monitored too) and road works speed limits And in between there was a stretch between Dunkeld and Calvine on the slower section of the A9 it managed 36mpg The gentle off-road sections in the forests (all done in low box) resulted in an off-road worst of 21 mpg on mostly dry tracks through the forests  Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Another member here was also on the same runs in a D250 90 and I would be interested to see what his returns are from the Remite app journey records Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

The first run through the forests at Hermitage I got 17.9 mpg. 16.6 miles at an average speed of 11 mph in high ratio.
I didn’t stop the car after the second run so my figures take in Dunkeld to Bruar, the off-road section and the "spirited" drive home and that was a total of 105 miles at 31 mpg ave. Pangy 90 HSE 250 with off-roady bits 🏴 ⛰ |

Tbh I'm sure if I took the roof rack and sandwich box off and swapped out the Duratracs for a set of Pirelli Scorpions running 45psi I could manage to average high 30s/low 40s pretty easily. Pangy 90 HSE 250 with off-roady bits 🏴 ⛰

High 30s on a flat battery on a run in my BMW - nearly 200kg heavier / AWD and a 6 cylinder 300hp petrol engine |

l've found BMW to be very good on fuel economy, l had a Z3 3.0 and it did high 30's even round town.

The D300 d5 we have is about 10-15mpg better certainly on runs, but i dont think thats a fair direct comparison (its also far more responsive and better than the defender d300 in my opinion and i cant work out why)
The little d200 and D250 we had in Defender format werent any comparable amount different in MPG Mike |

The engine certainly got much better with age. We had an early Z3 with the 3.0l (2001) and 17 to 23mpg around town. 30mpg on a run. Considering it was around 1350kg that's not very good |

Done a road trip yesterday, started with a range of 502 miles, done a total of 360 miles, showing a range of 306 miles left. Not too shabby. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
