Some great shouts here, thanks guys.
I'm currently leaning towards a rally spec 2 door RRC with a big RV8 or an LS. Finding one will prove very difficult though I suspect. I take it you mean “I'm minded to invest in one [a classic sports car]” in the same way my missus “invests” in Agent Provocateur and Manolos...
Seriously, I tend to buy only items that will retain their value (yes, sometimes the most expensive but buy cheap buy twice) and two years ago I could have sold my Linssen and my Morgan for more than I paid for them. Doesn’t mean I’d have made a profit of course, the money I’d laid out at the time of their purchase was worth a lot more than when I came to sell them. Unfortunately today, NOBODY has any spare cash for luxuries, nobody wants my Mog - even as part exchange for a new one - and I doubt with insurance, mooring fees and maintenance etc. I could even give my boat away. Buyers’ market, whatever second-hand vehicle you go for, offer HALF their advertised price! Peter |

Alfa 105 series. Great little cars and a lot of fun on the road. With the right engine it will throw you in the seat, definitely spannerable, plentiful supply of parts and upgrade parts. 250bhp a ton is possible with enough money spent, but honestly it’s a fun car with minimal outlay.

Shame you don’t want a project, I’m personally hankering after one of these.
30k for the kit 10-20k for the engine and transmission 5k for the paint 5k bits and bobs. If you build it yourself. But 50-60k for a bespoke V8 muscle car is bonkers. Those are dollar prices which will soon be sterling prices as well  Monsieur Le Grenadier

I am sure someone, a few streets away has one of those. I am sure it was either Green or Yellow. Also when i had my vvc metro, i was bombing a long a 50mph road, looks in my rear rear view mirror, and all i could see was this very large Chrome grill from a Triumph TR5 winding my arse right in 
The owner was impressed by the metro, Due to the fact he twigged it wasn't a 1.1s  He said there a more metros than these. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I don't think rover made many of those at all, i saw one at MG live back in 2013, and it was the only one at the event. My dad was like christ that's got to be practically a one off that!
