Bit of an odd one, my dad has a hankering for another sports car and has been looking at a few things including the Ariel Nomad and Ultima GTR. Whilst both are nice, they are a bit too specialised to enjoy regularly IMO. Plus, there's currently a Westfield Seight in the garage which fits the fast, noisy and not that comfortable category (we're both 6"4+).
I'm minded to invest in one with him since we have similar tastes and I can't currently justify an outright purchase myself. This begs the question, what would you buy? I'd quite like a BMW 2002 or an earlyish 911 but neither are cheap (especially not the latter) and I suspect spares for both would be difficult to source / expensive? Shopping list looks something like: - Pretty quick, doesn't need to be outrageous but definitely throw you back in the seat acceleration. - An aluminium body would be nice - Spannerable, with a reasonable availability of parts - Compliant ride, suitable for long journeys - RWD or 4WD I guess I'm looking for a quick Land Rover?? 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

I've seen this around
Please please don't be tempted Just wrong. TVR of some kind? Or as above classic RR resto mod? Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

A 2 door RRC with an LS/LT or tuned V8 would be right up my street but doesn't really lend itself to being driven hard without significant investment. I've also got enough projects
An EV would definitely be on the cards, but I won't get dad in a Defender.... A TVR could work, we're both fans of the RV8 and a friend of mine has a lot to do with them through his work. For some reason, they just don't do a great deal for me, maybe a bit too jelly mould for my tastes. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

Hmm, a bit too sophisticated a chap locally has a number of Jensens, his garage is effectively a museum. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

If you can find one, a Triumph TR8 could be fun:

Alfa GTV 2.0 or a Pagoda. The Pagoda doesn't have the push back in your seat acceleration but it has aluminium doors, hood and boot lid. It is great for cruising and does 75mph no problem all day long. And its fuel injected and relatively easy to work on. The GTV is quicker off the mark but doesn't have the aluminium but it does eat up the back roads pretty quick. Great handling if you have the suspension working as it should. 2006 90 originally registered in Italy

Hi shroppy, not sure if this floats you’re boat, super rare and reasonably quick, you’d certainly stand out from the crowd

Morgan Plus 8, it’s pretty much a Land Rover in some respects. I’d have one in a heat beat. My father in law has two that he races and having driven or the road, honestly it’s so much fun.
I’m 6’4 and fit in it perfectly |
