2016 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Corris Grey

Clutch Switch

Looking at swappingout the clutch switch as the truck has always slightly suffered with rev hang n a gear change
Wondered if it requires the clutch bled again afterwards or is it 'dry' ??

Anything else to watch out for?

The clutch switch is dry. There is no connection with the hydraulic system. Darren

Just to finalise this......

The clutch switch is WET, it fits into the top of the front Clutch master banjo bolt fitting

Long story but ended up with air on the clutch pedal, removal / refitting of the switch and judicious use of a syringe & brake fluid allowed a solid pedal again........
Happy days as the gear change seems far improved to boot

I replaced the whole thing earlier this year, it is indeed wet and has copper washers each side of the banjo fitting on mine.
I replaced the whole thing.

The Puma and TD5 has a clutch switch but earlier models has the hydraulic pipe Union go straight into the MC obviously without a clutch switch.
Was it the TD5 that introduced a clutch switch or did earlier models have one at all?

I know the TD5 and Puma switches differ in that, on the Puma you cannot just disconnect it - it would need to be a closed circuit.
Right now. Though I went years with a disconnected bypassed clutch switch I now have a new one and it’s active again so as it’s working and brand new I’ll stick to that but never had the slightest issue with it bypassed either. WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

The only reason for having a clutch switch is to inform the ECM that the clutch has been thrown out in order to modify the engine's behaviour. Since the TD5 was the first Defender engine to have an ECM, it is also the first to have a clutch switch.
