Tank breather
When I fill my tank up the fuel is leaking out of the breather. When I checked this afternoon I noticed the end of the breather pipe sits lower than the top of the fuel tank and the top of the filler neck. Now sI was under the impression that post 09 (mine is March/April 09 build) had the pipe routed behind the light pannel. Am I wrong in thinking this? Anyone have a 110 of simular age that can have a quick look and see if it is the same as the photo below please?

Many thanks

Boy

the breather on my new one is very 'dieselly' too but I thought that was due to filling the tank way beyond auto shut off - a bad habit that I have since stopped !

Don't know if this is any help but came across a pic of the revised breather pipe location when fitting a fuel pickup for my Webasto. The relevant pic is in My Gallery in the Fuel Tank Removal pdf Page 7 or 8.

Maybe thats what i am doing wrong then. This has (as far as I know) never happened before.

I will try not putting too much in then.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Cobs

That's a great help thank you.

Funny that it never happened before. From now on I will not be filling it up to the brim.

You're welcome - mine's a 2007 LWB and the pipe goes up the rear wing. Looking at the pic it does seem a bit odd that it's at the same level as the chassis/tank. I'd be inclined to extend the breather so it's at least as high as the filler pipe. I think it's just standard rubbber hose.

all the defenders from 2009 that i have come across are like that i would just extend it up to the wheel arch and put some copper pipe in the end to hold it in the curved shape
