Picture 1. If there is no oil dripping from above, then most possible culprit is the rear crank shaft seal. To fix is either engine or gearbox+transfer box out. Depends how much you are equipped... if have an engine hoist, engine out is probably easier.
Picture 2. Transfer case output seal. This is not a difficult fix. maybe 30min to 1hr job. Could be just the seal, but if the output flange is pitted, better replace it as well. Picture 3 n 4. Looks like top cover gasket. Very easy job. Just take top cover off, replace seal, or apply a smear of sealant. While you are there, check the valve clearances. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Recently I took out radiator for maintenance, so I pulled out one of the car battery connector as did not drive for one week+, I cannot start the car aft put back the radiator, so I used jump start and charged the car. Aft that the dashboard meter became "err"..does the fuse dead? Or wiring problem? Appreaciated your helps and reply. |

The 200tdi gauge is full mechanical, so looks like an aftermarket gauge. Not familiar with that.
Perhaps some other forum member can advise. I put your picture below: Click image to enlarge 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Click image to enlarge Hi, Dinnu. Really appreciated. Anyway, I tried google and see some info abt speedmeter did not work properly aft changing the car battery and etc. The tip was disconnect the car battery and reset everything, then should be fine. I will try this tomorrow and see. By the way, do you know the transfer box oil leaking mainly because of the input seal and immediate shaft? Can just fix with reseal the transfer box as well as change the new bolts? Pls see pic and reference link:https://www.defendersource.com/threads/reseal-transfer-box.39018/ One more i did asked you abt the engine oil leaking previously, you told me could be rear main oil seal, T seal or forgot the name, haha...pls sèe pic as well, I noticed the oil filter also having droplet. Anyway, I noticed oil catch can (D1 SPEC) appeared outside the can..i am still investigating the leaks..😂 Thanks for your time answering all of my questions😊 Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Is the colour of the oil red? if yes, it could be ATF which is the oil specified for the LT77 (main gearbox). Keep in mind that when driving, the wind will blow the oil towards the rear. So if main gearbox is leaking, you might think that the transfer case is leaking too. Best is to give a thorough wash, dry. Take for a short spin, and check for oil drips right away. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Yes, it is red colour. So what is the main thing that cause the leak(gear box) if it is gearbox leaking? Thanks
