1. Not necessary but the washer is.
2. I am not sure. 3. Mine is the later type. The plug head is approximately 15mm. |

Click image to enlarge Changing the sump plug washer is a good idea. The early 300 tdi is the same as the 200 tdi and is 27 mm across. The later 300 tdi is smaller and is. The washers come in packs of ten and are very cheap.I am sorry that is the best I can do but someone else should have more specific knowledge. If in doubt buy both as they are very cheap! That move was actually made with the TD5 and just continued with the Puma. It's probably just for packaging reasons. The circle red is a drain hole for the bell housing. Leave it as it is. You usually get a screw in bung called a wading plug with the Land Rover to screw in when deep wading.

Are these the wading plugs J688 and J687? They look different in shape in the Owners handbook (J688 looks like a hexagon and J687 looks like a square head) but the x2 I have in the toolkit look identical. I assume they are aftermarket? Yes, just realised that the Owners Manual shows many more options that the Workshop Manual. Thanks for pointing that out. Workshop Manual Click image to enlarge Owner's Manual Click image to enlarge APK MY2016 110 Adventure Corris Grey MY1997 110 County Station Wagon 300 Tdi Alpine White |

Hi all,
Dealer recommended Castrol SAF-X0 Oil Fluid TYK500010 (£30.95 per litre) for Transfer gearbox and differentials. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-TYK500010 Is Castrol TRANSMAX Universal LL 75W-90 a better choice at £17.95 per litre, GL-5 and fully synthetic? https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-77373-castrol...fluid.aspx 7l in total required for transfer gearbox (2.3l) and front & rear differentials (1.7l + 2.3l). That type of oil in the diffs is not necessary.
A good quality EP90 will be just fine. I used to have Transmaxs 75w90 in the transfer box but I am also starting to think it's too much. |
