Puma Front ABS Sensor
I been having an intermittent fault with the front left ABS sensor on my '07 Puma. I whipped the wheel off today to have a look today, had a poke around the sensor and I could push in to its holes a few mm quite easily. Should the sensor be fully seated, or is there a reason it wasn't quite all the way in? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I suppose they ‘could’ work loose depending on how ‘good’ the copper housing is in terms of retaining it.

I’ve taken a quick photo of mine which might give you an idea of depth when fully seated.

They should push it to a fairly noticeable ‘stop.’

Did your ABS light register any fault?

The fault code I've been getting is "18-07, front left sensor electrical failure". It causes the
brake and TC warning lights to show, but it has only been occuring about 50% of occasions I drive the car. Its been occurring for the last couple of months.

Hopefully pushing it back fully home will resolve things. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The workshop manual for 2012 on requires a new sensor bush to be fitted after removal of the sensor. Refitting is by applying anti seize grease and pushing fully home.

Although I’ve been suffering with ‘other’ ABS issues, I have in the past found that ‘reseating’ an ABS sensor only a few millimetres has solved the problem so fingers crossed you’ve done the trick Thumbs Up

Just in case you haven’t seen it, this is the copper retaining bush they are seated in:

Hope your lights remain out!

My RH front had an intermittent fault for a while. I found it was a loose plug connection on the inner front wing. The front wheel sensor has a shortish wire and this then connects to the loom. This has a 2 pin/socket joint. I just had to squeeze the 2 socket parts a little.

Quick update, done a touch over 300 miles since pushing the sensor back in and the fault has not recurred. Hopefully that's all there was to it.

Thanks for the info on it being in a sleeve. Always good to know how it goes together. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Good news Thumbs Up

It’s often a simple fix.

My 3 amigos haven’t come back (separate ABS issue).

Cheers
