Over the summer I had the doors off the Defender to replace the hinges and while I was at it I got the mirror arms resprayed as well. They where jammed up, and my dad had the brilliant idea to spray the mount with WD40, meaning that now if I go above 40 MPH or there's a strong wind they just fall over. It's been getting rather annoying and dangerous. Is there any sealant or anything that I can use to keep them upright, or is a replacement the only option? Ben

Under the mirrors are two Allen bolts. Try doing those up a bit tighter Mark |

Just buy a new pair of mirrors and arms. About £8 per side from Bearmach. The BM ones are not original LR items, but very good replacements.

Put a larger mirror on mine for towing and had the same problem - was surprised just how much it had to be tightenend

I think it's fair to say, some after-market mirror arms are coming through with a smaller 'globe', so no matter how much you tighten, it stays floppy
Try a SMALL covering of self amalgamating tape (one wrap) on the globe and it is able to tighten up. Job's a fish  |
