Alpine Double Din to optimill reverse camera set up help
I’ve got power to the camera, and continuity on the signal cable however I get no image on the screen. If I select reverse, I’m getting 12V on the reverse signal cable but nothing happens at the head unit. If I press the Cam button on the head unit it just makes a bong noise and still no image. Any thoughts?

Can anyone confirm which pin the reverse signal is supposed to go into on the connector on the back of the HU?

Check the head unit wire that grounds to the handbrake switch Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

Cheers Angus. Can you expand on that? I haven’t got the handbrake wire wired up, is this a necessity? Is there a workaround to save me having to run more wires in?

Cheers

I have the JVC that mud sells and it has a wire to connect to a handbrake that needed to be grounded before the camera would work. I grounded this wire to the unit instead of hooking it to the switch because I wanted everything to work regardless of parking brake position .

I’m not sure if your particular unit is the same, but with mine the camera did not work with that particular line not connected to a ground Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

Sorry, just to clarify, all I need to do is connect that wire to ground?

Well I don’t have the alpine unit so I can’t say for certain. But in your trouble shooting, check to see if there is a line for the parking brake, and what signal the unit expects on that line Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

There is a parking brake line, but not sure whether it wants 12V or 0V. I tried grounding it to no avail. Worth connect it to 12V or do I risk booting something?

Not saying this will fix your problem but you may want to do an Ebay search for "parking brake override bypass". You'll find them for a range of units and Alpine are amongst them. It allows access to menu items that are unavailable if the unit does not get a handbrake on ground signal.
