One of these per chance https://www.designdevelopmenteng.co.uk/sho...p389433920
A bit pricey, I made one up myself but the nato socket is hard to come by. |

the 3 options you have is
make your own patch lead mod wiring is by number and not colours but the lovley d n d adaptor above or butcher the mod lead and plug.....not ideal for resale. the final option is to throw on a new trl loom/ lightboard set up and keep the original set up as it is. |

Cheers MDM
I do have both military motors and sankey and well versed on 12pin Letters but grateful for your efforts and help I Have had 7pin - 12pin female for years to go between 110 and sankey. Had to butcher it when I found 12 pin faulty on the LWT. I’ll give the company above a call in the morning and have to pay out £100 |

Never give a loan of your 12-7pin |

Oooooh lovely, BUT…… I have 2 issues with its design and usability. Iv not yet had time to call the supplier though.
On a normal 7pin plug, the protective cover on the car side lifts up and is shaped to hold the 7pin plug in place. However as you see the new adapter is not shaped to allow the cover to latch over it and hold it in place so there is nothing to prevent it from sliding out. It IS sliding out because the weight of the NATO plug is pulling it down and out, not good design at all and if I’m honest, I’m pretty kissed I just know that with the banging and jumping about of the car on the road, it will fall out. £135 it cost. Keith, I have seen a couple of people use them with a 7pin -7pin extension so that the adapter sits in the holder on the trailer (the location where you’d normally store the plug when the trailer is not in use) I know the image below is of a penman but a sankey Has a similar set up 👍

That will fix it . Also if you put the cables into the tub and do the connection their then if it ever does become disconnected it’s left in the tub and not lost.

After having the D&D adaptor for a while I installed a proper NATO socket on the Defender. The 2 civi towing sockets were already below the NAS step so I could use the proper military mounting plate over the aperture. The socket is wired to a civi 7 pin which then plugs into the civi socket - so it's a zero-mod solution apart from the 4 self-tappers on the cross-member. The sprung cover of the NATO socket captures the big black rubber casing on the NATO plug preventing the droop situation experienced by the OP.
