Towbar height on a 90 without air

So I was meant to have a detachable but a few days before the retailer tells me I can only have an adjustable height fixed towbar.

I’ve come from disco4’s and full fat Range Rovers so I used to air suspension and this thing is sitting on the arse when I have my car trailer on the back. What height should I have my towbar at as I have it in the middle of 3 settings and had it on the lowest but it’s not great.

Any advice on if this can be avoided? I have ordered another one with air but that’s not due for a while.

Have a look at Harry’s Garage, he towed a car transporter with his 90 Hard Top. Never towed with mine so can’t help.

This new 110 I bought actually came with the electric deployable tow bar, probably never use it. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Thanks, I have the same trailer as Harrys garage. . Sadly he has air suspension and deployable towbar so the set up i’m waiting upon. Looks like I’ll have to slightly rear load the trailer as the only option to level the car out

Rear loading the trailer doesn't sound like a good idea for towing stability. The hitch weight should be around 50 to 100 kg and the CoG needs to be just forward of the trailer axle/s.

Usually you’d be correct and that’s the advice I’d give but with the type of cars I tow and the trailers I use your methods aren’t actually possible. I use my car trailers almost everyday, so I’m used to the towing side

Doesn’t sound like there’s a solution to this so looks like I’ll be waiting for the one with air suspension to turn up

It's the advice LR give in the towing advice on their website and at the Experience centre I attended earlier this week. As you say, it's pretty general advice too. But why do you say you can't achieve it with your rig? Is it because of the trailer or the hitch height issue?

So usually I tow either big range rovers or saloons etc as they are so long and heavily weighted up the front with either a big v8 or diesel you can’t move them back that far due to the Length and you can avoid loading the nose up with weight.

I’d say it’s a mixture of hitch height and lack of air suspension that is the issue
