That sounds very similar to a problem that I had, which was eventually resolved by replacing the turbo actuator. I described the sound as similar to a dump valve on a hot hatch. You can read the details here:

I have tried putting to old actuator on the new turbo and it’s still the same… Aldo I drove without the bonnet on to see what is happening with the actuator but it doesn’t seem to be moving when the sound comes….
Maybe the remap is causing issues with the new turbo 🤷🏻♂️ |

All I can say is that there were no obvious faults with the old actuator but replacing it with a new one cured the problem. There were no faults logged, either.

Hmmm.
Maybe if it’s doing it for both actuators it could be the wiring at fault to the actuator 🤔 |

Did you fit an upgraded intercooler such as a BAS IC ?
Since I fitted a BAS IC I don’t get any hesitation but do get a bit of a brief induction roar from the side air intake during light acceleration, such as exiting a mini roundabout. |

I did put a bigger intercooler in yes, but I can’t see how that could be making a noise like back pressure.
I am thinking that the turbo has not been set up properly ( it’s a reconditioned one) and that is why it’s making the noise with both actuators. |

A bigger intercooler shouldn't make any difference. I have one fitted to mine without any other changes.
I missed your earlier post and didn't realise that you'd actually tried two different actuators. On that basis, I'd be inspecting the wiring to it looking for any damage to the insulation. You may have to unwrap it from a loom to do so. I had similar wiring issue on my 2.2 turbo actuator and MAF connectors, luckily not causing any problem but bought new connectors with flyleads from Martin and got an auto electrician to splice them in.
