My 110 has a 2010 pioneer flip screen building by the previous owner.
I have to replace it because the device is dying. When the screen is up, it’s hard to get to the buttons. Especially the switch for the alarm lights is hard to reach. But for now there isn’t an economical solution. A double din modification is also very pricey. So not sure too what to do. Maybe I’ll go for the alpine ilx903 |

I've also got a TD5 and am about to bite the pullet on a pioneer SPH-EVO62DAB. This is a single DIN modular stereo. The screen is not attached to the main unit so can be positioned where you want.
Im hoping it makes for a smooth install. |

I fitted a 9” joying single DIN. Has CarPlay Bluetooth Wi-Fi 4G and I added a DAB module. It’s an android unit so can download apps from google play. I was very impressed and it’s easy to use.

I fitted a Kenwood flip out unit to my Puma. I re located the inner most switches to a pod on the Dash.
I guess that was drastic as I could have left them where they were. But it worked for me. The picture here is before I fitted all the switches in the pod. Also fitted an oil temp gauge. Click image to enlarge 2015 90 XS Santorini Black |

Joying Android system here as well. I ordered it with a longer (flat) cable to the screen, so now the main unit (in the original 1DIN slot) and the screen can be mounted separately.
The unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and as mentioned before can be fully customized with many apps and additional features like DAB, TPMS, Camera's, ODBD, ... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

@leonvh
Can I ask about the bar you have fitted to your dashboard - is that a product you bought or something you made? How does it attach? |

It's from Aliexpress: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/10050023221...pt=glo2nld
At first I tried using a RAM ball-mount on the center dashboard screw near the window, but that was not sturdy enough (needed to let the screen rest on the dashboard). This (still combined with a RAM mount) is a lot better and gives me plenty of room to move the screen in different positions. |

Those above are separate screens and take up too much windscreen space for me. There must be some good fold out screens from stereo units?

^^^Keith, that is exactly what I commented on a very similar thread. I was shocked of how much visibility I lost when I mounted a clip on rear view mirror/monitor! Perhaps the units above only reduces bonnet visibility, but trust me I am not the tallest Defender owner, and my seats are not raised (actually the foam seams to be sagging, just like my butt ).
Edit: need to add that all replies that I had were that they did mot reduce forward visibility (assuming that you do not look at the new toy most of the time). I like the solution by Leon, as it seems to be almost 100% reversible. I hate to cut large holes in the dash to relocate switches... just in case I want to go back to factory virgin setup. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Mine sits nicely on the dash but in the single din slot. The joying units are well worth considering if your unsure as to how much room would take cut a piece of card the same size and try it on your dash. |

I'm using a 7" Joying Android System in my 90 for at least four years (including DAB+, OBD-system, rear camera, steering wheel controller). In the first instance I used the normal 1 DIN slot and the screen was mounted direct to the receiver. The disadvantage was that the hazard flasher switch was partly covered (the rest of the switches I never use).
Click image to enlarge In the meantime, I changed the position of the screen and placed it just in front of the face vent and the clock. I don't miss both . Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
