Hi Stacey007. Are you absolutely sure it is the diff and not the wheel bearings? It'd be a tad irritating if it were wheel bearings and you had forked out for two new diffs.
You could try taking the rear pro-shaft off and seeing/hearing if that changes the noise. Noises like this are always a pain to pin down... could even be your transfer box for example. |

try with props off, screeching could just be a UJ or wheel bearing as suggested above.
screaching is unsual for puma diff failure, a rumble yes in which case rear diff. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

In my experience, the short nose rear diffs on a 110 tend to sound like an old tram when they begin to wear, a bit rumbly under load then with a whine when coasting/over run.
First port of call for me would be to drop the oil from the diff and see if it's full of filings. Chris |

Some good advice.
I will see if I can get it checked, your right not having to spend on new diff(s) would be a bonus. |

Just changed my rear one at 250K, grumbling on drive and whining on over run.
05 TD5 with short nose diff. |
