What Expedition roof rack fixation are the best or possible?

Hello
what is the best and easiest way to fix boxes and other parts to the original LR Expedition Roofrack.

Bolts? Which size?
Eyelet bolts?
Ratchet straps?
Mount clamps?

Can i use normal stainless bolts with springs and nuts?

What solution did you go for as my Defender arrives on Monday and I'm pondering the same question?
