Well this trip is inbound!! 8th August cant come quick enough (although the heat waves thing is given me doubts)
ferry soon to be booked (the tunnel was so expensive so going with the ferry and saving £300 ![]() The route and stops to Barcelona is almost finalised, a few days to explore Barcelona then the Pyrenees! I have ordered the Viraction RB5 Integral east to west road book and then plan to travel western France on our way back up. Has anyone done this particular route? and do you think i should book any of the campsites? 2023 Defender L663 V8 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 (gone) 2010 110 XS Utility 2.4TDCI 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (gone) 2007 Discovery HSE TDV6 (gone) 1993 110 csw 200 tdi (gone) 1994 90 HT 300 tdi (gone) 1994 discovery 300tdi (gone) 90 hybrid 3.5 v8 (gone) Range rover bobtail 3.5 v8 (gone) |

Bear110,
I’ve Just ordered RB5 tonight, east to west, and going to go next June. I’m going to start about midway though, as Ive already done a route to the east to the coast, from a place called Sort. I would suggest you book some campsites, as August is the main holiday period for Europeans, and it could be very busy. Hope you have a great time, and give us a good write up, with photos Ashbyandy 👍 |

I've never prebooked campsites but then I've never been in August. We usually find a campsite in late afternoon wherever we are.
Enjoy ! Though you may find forest fires particularly at the western end. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

I’ve done the Western section, Bilbao to Andorra, my track log is here: https://www.wikiloc.com/offroading-trails/...a-37038313 I’m going out to do the Eastern section in October. It’s a great route and the RB5 is quite accurate. Sometimes a track might have a no entry or Prive sign on it but there is always an alternative route. I didn’t book campsites last time but is was mid May so early on, we are not going to book campsites in October either. There are quite a lot of opportunities to wild camp in Spain and no one seems to mind if you set up late and leave early and do so in quiet out of the areas. |

Question for those of you that have used the Vibraction books, (I’ve just ordered RB5, The Pyrenees West), but do they have a GPX file download link for the route, TIA,
Ashby Andy 👍 |

When you buy the book they will send you the file in .gpx format. That being said, on Wikiloc, there are gpx files of the RB5 route that others have followed.

My RB5 Traverse turned up today!
When ordering it asks what format you want your GPS in. I chose GPX…..any advice on what app is good for the GPX? 2023 Defender L663 V8 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 (gone) 2010 110 XS Utility 2.4TDCI 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (gone) 2007 Discovery HSE TDV6 (gone) 1993 110 csw 200 tdi (gone) 1994 90 HT 300 tdi (gone) 1994 discovery 300tdi (gone) 90 hybrid 3.5 v8 (gone) Range rover bobtail 3.5 v8 (gone) |

Hi bear110,
I used to use Viewranger, but it has been sold out to Outdooractive. I’m still getting my head around it, and I’ll download the GPX file to this. I still think viewranger was great, and I had the hang of it. There’ll be lots of comments about preferred mapping apps, but at the moment I’m sticking with Outdooractive, it seems to offer what I want, Andy 👍 |
