On 2.4 it is 6Nm plus 180 degrees. Not sure whether this is the same for 2.2 > 110 XS Double Cab

I have now changed the bolts for genuine LR ones, there was a very slight length difference. However I still have the blowby.
I now have another fault code, "P2263-22 (EC) Turbo/supercharge boost system performance - General signal failure - signal amplitude>maxiumum" Does anyone know if this can be related to blowby and should I start to look at the turbo, or is this perhaps a conincidence and I now have 2 faults. |

Possibly disturbed the loom to the turbo? Notorious weak spots over the air con pump and around the ferrite ring.
I was always told to use new stretch bolts and anneal the washers even if genuine. HTH Keith |

I seen this is a problem on the 2.4's, so I checked mine and it must be a different loop as there is plenty of length on mine.

IIRC there is a ferrite ring wrapped into the loom just near the multi plug connector on the turbo - pretty sure someone on here had the wire fail on this ring.

I have now checked the loom and disconnected the actuator to prove this is not sticking. Another item rules out. |

For information the result here is a cracked piston. I’m waiting to hear about the injectors, but it’s suspected a faulty injector caused this.

However I don't believe in the injector theory, I believe that the pistons are the issue. The failure mode is exactly like the Toyota pistons in Australia and there has been 3 updates to pistons but no injector updates. Your options are buy just one piston if it hasn't damaged the bore or buy a set and rebuild. I bought a rebuild kit from Lyme Parts for $1200 Aus that was landed, so pretty decent in my book. Mark |

Are the Lyme pistons different to the OEM ones? Are they any less likely to crack?
I think a full rebuild is the best option. Luckily there are no markings on the walls. |

All injectors have been tested and returned to me, all tested okay. So it appears this might just be a defect with the pistons themselves? I’ve heard many stories of no3 piston cracking.

It was tuned, with a larger intercooler. But this was removed (due to clutch wear) before the fault occurred.

Looking at your pistons, mine is not so bad. I would like to know the root cause before rebuilding. |
