I fitted a Nissens one a few years ago. Still does the job perfectly well. Charlie

As you say, an interesting failure and there are no marks on the fan blades so not sure how it happened. Sadly it happened in deepest mid-Wales (Strata Florida) so recovery took a long time - called AA at 08:00 and got home at 20:00. Comfy ride in the recovery truck though.. ![]() |

Your existing rad was fine, and an 'uprated' ally one wouldn't be any more resistant to that type of damage/failure.
If you uprate it without a need to, you're just spending more money for no benefit. And if the same problem happens again, then you'll have just broken a more expensive part. I'm all for modifying/uprating, but i can't see any point in this scenario. Go for a quality aftermarket standard part. |

I always found getting a TD5 to actually warm up in the winter is sometimes hard work. The last thing I would think that would be needed is a more efficient 'upgraded' radiator!

I fitted a Nissens radiator (bought from my local factor) when the genuine LR rad in my Puma started squirting. The Nissens radiator appeared to be every bit as good quality as the original, if not better, and has now lasted longer than the genuine one did.
The TD5 and Puma use the same radiator, by the way. |

My experience is the same as Blackwolf’s.
I’ve fitted Nissens rads in several vehicles and always found them a perfect fit, very well made and they lasted as long if not longer than the Original rad. Plus they are reasonably priced. Ps. This is worth a read https://www.defender2.net/forum/post884946.html |
