SOLD: 88 inch Safari / Tropical Roof and Sliding Window
For sale

88 inch Tropical /Safari Roof with Sliding Window Sides.

The Roof will need a refurb which was my intention when bought for a future project that did not come to be.

There are 4 small curious holes at each corner which could easily be repaired as I would imagine the new owner would likely refurbish the whole roof and sides.

This was the straightest roof that I could find ( as can be seen in the photographs ).
All the vents open and are free of rust.
I had to travel a great distance to buy this at significant cost but sadly a house move now forces sale.

I am putting photographs of the roof up initially as I haven’t emptied the shed yet
( later in the weekend 😫 )where the sides are currently hiding.

I am looking for £400 for the lot which is a ridiculous price considering how difficult these are to find especially in this condition.

You will obviously need a van or trailer to transport due to size.

I spoke to a family friend who worked at a Landrover Dealership pretty much his whole career. And he said that customers sometimes had some unusual request for their land rovers although he’s did admit that he hadn’t seen that modification before.

However, the holes would be a relatively easy fix if the roof were to undergo a refurbishment these would I imagine be addressed at that time.

My cousin has a body shop where the roof was to go for refurbishment. He explained that he would use an automotive product ( produced by Indasa ) to bond small plates to the underside of the roof then bond small metal round cut outs to the top surface and then finish off with a minimal skim of filler then paint.
Being mostly on the underside of the top skin this repair would be invisible.

This could be done by anyone who is handy ( which most of us landrover owners are / have to be ) with a little time and patience.
The main thing with this roof is that the secondary ( top roof surface ) is flat with no damage or tears all with all the vents working as they should with no rust on the mechanisms.

As I mentioned It took a great deal of time and patience to find one in this condition after inspecting a few that had been described as being in excellent order which clearly was not the case.

However, my plans changed and I bought my current Defender instead which is why the roof and sides are now up for sale.

I had thought that this was an extremely keen price given the scarcity of this type of items (s) However, that looks to have been misplaced.

Looks like it will just go back into storage for a while and see what happens in the future😳
