Do you have two fobs or just one? It could be a faulty 'disarm' button/switch on the fob, as it arms OK - so the transmitter works.
Assuming the 10AS settings haven't been played with from the factory you shouldn't need to actively 'arm' and 'disarm' the immobiliser. If you get it into the 'disarmed' state, then unlock with the key, turn the key in the ignition and the immobiliser should disarm (the 10AS does this using the 'exciter' coil around the column lock to make the fob transmit). When you turn the ignition off after driving, the immobiliser rearms itself after about a minute (time plucked off the top of my head!). I've got this setup on my Td5 converted 90 without central locking. I don't use the fob buttons generally, but if I do 'arm' with the fob button it won't disarm using the key-in-ignition method. It needs to be disarmed using the fob before it will start. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Hi Martin,
I have just the one fob. That's really useful information regarding how it works, so in summary if I do nothing with the fob the vehicle will arm/disarm the immobiliser by inserting/removing the ignition key. By using the fob the immobilisr and alarm is armed and both can then only be disarmed by again using the fob. I had considered that the 'system' may be fine if it's arming. Based on your suggestion I've now taken the fob apart and clicked the disarm button a few times which has been received by the vehicle. I think I'll get another fob sorted. Thanks for the advice. |

You may just need a new case, it could be the button rubber is worn and not pressing the switch properly.
Info about replacement cases: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83740.html But in any case it would be worth getting a spare fob programmed as you only have the one. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Yeah, I've just looked at the underneath of the rubber button covers. They look shiney and they're sticky when poked with a blunt pencil. I guess that something has got inside the fob but the circuit board looks fine.

May sound obvious but change the batteries in the fob? There is a guy that repairs the AS units and can supply new fobs. Try looking up

Thanks jrule. I've just emailed him to see about providing a second fob.

I had an issue with my fobs that the terminals for the battery inside had become loose. Re-soldering did the job.

Worth checking out remotekey as well, they also do an integrated fob, noting you will need the fob programming to your alarm ECU and they include that in their costs. https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover-keys-re...mobiliser/ |
