I did it on my 200tdi 90 and loved it. I ended up going from 29mpg to 36mpg.
I am planning to do it to my 110 as soon as I can be arsed to swap it over. Its a simple bolt on, bolt off job, no real pitfalls other than the size and weight. 2002 Defender 110 DC |

Done this to mine.
Advice would be, get a good second hand unit, or one from Land Rover. Don't get a very expensive recon one that will have to be changed several times. Don't do it to save fuel, and don't do it if you tow. Andy |

Did it on my 100" 200tdi bitsa, great option, ran 265/75 mud terrains, cruises at 75mph and averaged 28mpg with lots of heavy towing, never had a problem towing although coming out of the quarry at 5.8 tonnes total I did have to use low box up through Ford towards Toddington once....

Cheers lads...
I can't tow anything heavy because I have a post 97 licence, so not worried about that. I've heard you have to drill and tap new holes for the rear of the handbrake bracket. Is this true? Also, I've read that it's best to go for a LT230Q box from a 300tdi, instead of an earlier one from a 200... |

i've bought an overdrive for my 110, a 6th gear but also allows for my 33" tyres when towing a trailer etc by not overgearing it to much.

Done it to my 90 200tdi conversion. Had to drill and tap a couple of holes for the handbrake bracket if its a disco trans box, other than that its a straight swop

I recently sold a Disco2 tbox (from which I had taken the CDL to fit to my Disco2) to a friend who has a tuned TD5 90, and he has now fitted it to that.
His comment was that he wished he'd done it years age, it has transformed the vehicle. |
