United Kingdom 2000 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Alveston Red
Td5 front shocks and spring replacement
So. On the back of a successful rear suspension change ( https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83512.html ) I thought I should give the front a go.

It’s a 22 year old car so I get that things may be a bit tight but…….

5 hours later I got to this stage

Couldn’t get the turret through the hole so ended up separating the shock in situ.

Parts coming tomorrow to fit so just doing one side today.

The drivers side is probably harder. Can’t wait

Thought I had some spring compressors but couldn’t find them so went with the jack option.

Which worked

Getting the nut on the bottom of the shock involved two jacks and a bucket load of swearing but got there in the end.

Tomorrow the drivers side.

Are those pics 'staged' again for the purposes of taking pics, or are they of the job as you went along??

I only ask because in the last pic there appears to be a pretty big gap between the shock turret and the spring mounting. I'd expect that to be completely closed up? Donald
