If you have the time and able to do the distance, then a loop round loch ness going away from the tourist side and down past Fort Augusta is really enjoyable- we took in Loch Tarff as well and found some easy wild camping sites in that area (not on the East side of Loch Ness though) and there are lots of marked routes for walking in the hills
