Trophies of War
Appalling as the situation is in Ukraine, I had to smile when I read that the Ukraine government were in a situation to issue this communication;
"The Ukrainian government has even issued instructions on how citizens should turn in abandoned military vehicles.
Authorities also confirmed that anyone who found such "combat trophies" did not need to declare them for tax purposes."

How many farms will end up with a T-72 at the farm gate rather than an old tractor!

Robert Crawford in Frithville near Boston in Lincolnshire repurposed a tank after the war to use as a tractor for rota-tilling.

The dangerous / offensive bit that hurt people was removed from the top and it made a cracking 'puller' although I think it was quite thirsty and not very economical. It looked like a builders skip on tracks Laughing

After WW2, tractors were expensive and few and far between so finding a use for an ex war machine made perfect sense. Being agricultural engineers, the conversion didn't bother him.

It used to be shown at agricultural shows. Looked like great fun to drive.

Reminds me of the 2 captured Iraqi Field Guns we had outside our Squadron HQ in Colchester, they would regularly get ‘aimed’ at the Regimental HQ or neighbouring Squadron HQ by singlies coming in off the sauce. The RSM for some reason never saw the funny side of it.
