I know a lot of Defenders, including mine, are insured with Markerstudy through the various brokers. I just wondered what others experience of claiming off them was like.
My Dad has his car pinched (not a Landy) and then it was found a few days later by the cops. It was burnt out, so very straightforward on the face of it. Full story here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post927751.html#927751 The car was insured with Markerstudy via Halifax Bank insurance. It's over a month since the car was recovered and my Dad has yet to have even an offer let alone a payout. He has been in a constant cycle of ping pong between Markerstudy and their external loss adjuster. Both organisations have practically impenetrable phone lines and customer contact systems almost designed to prevent you speaking to anyone. He has today finally had a communication to say they are writing the car off, this was after he threatened to go to the ombudsman. Still no offer though. He has had to borrow money to buy a replacement vehicle in the meantime. Anyway, just a cautionary tale as so many Landys are insured with the same firm. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

Rejected them myself as insurers in the past because on what other persons had said about them when it came to a claim.

Isn't Markerstudy one of the main insurers used by A-Plan for Defenders?

I insure through A Plan but specifically requested that Markerstudy not be used. Darren

I raised my concerns over Markerstudy with A Plan. They convinced me to stick with them as in the event of a claim A Plan would deal with them on my behalf which should result in better service than folk who have had to deal with Markerstudy direct. I don’t know if that would prove to be true, but the chap sounded convincing 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I can honestly say that I have never read anything even remotely good about Markerstudy.
It may of course be that the majority of their customers are totally happy and just don't write anything, and it is only the small minority of disgruntled customers who are very vocal, but I suspect this is not the case. It is, sadly, getting harder and harder to avoid them since they seem to be buying up the competition with great success, probably using the monies that they have avoided paying out in claims for the purpose. |
