What’s that for? An where can I get one of these..?
Hello!

I’m trying to sort an issue with the rear interior light in my 90 Puma County. The light isn’t working at all, I’ve tried the bulb and fuse to no avail.

Next stop was the rear door switch, looks like it’s seen better days! Any idea what I need to be searching for to buy a replacement? Shocked

Also - whilst behind the rear speaker, I noticed this other cable not connected to anything. Any ideas what it’s for?

For reference, I’ve had a office job all my life and this is the oldest thing I’ve ever owned! Laughing my previous car was an Audi S3, drove the defender and fell in love with it. So here I am, learning to do stuff! I don’t even own a tool set… yet Embarassed

The ‘T’ shape is highly lightly to be for a 12v socket - cigarette lighter style.

Hi! The white plug with the purple and black wires is the accessory socket which in theory does nothing until you connect something to it. It should provide a permanent 12v supply so if you decide to attached something to it make sure it is switched independently.

For the rear door switch you'll need a PRC8548 'Defender Rear Door Switch'

Welcome to Land Rover ownership - you will need a good electrical multimeter! The first job on the interior light is to ascertain if you've got 12 volts at the light itself. The light output is determined by the unit being provided with an earth - either by moving the switch to 'on' or by the central locking ECU where one is fitted. There should be 12 volts at the unit permanently from fuse 30. In my 110 the contacts in the interior light are finicky little so-and-sos and despite there being 12 volts the lamp won't light, so a multimeter will show you if you need to simply shine up the contacts or look further.
