Rear propshaft UJ replacement
Hi all,
yesterday I attempted to change the rear propshaft universal joints on my 2008 110 TD4. I ordered genuine GKN HD replacements from GL in 74.6mm x 27mm. After watching a bunch of Youtube videos on the procedure I felt quite confident. Went on and tried it, worked mostly okay, but I have run into the problem that the new UJ is incredibly stiff in one direction after fitting.
It remains all free and nice up to about the last 2mm of travel before I can fit the finally the last circlip if that makes sense. I tried tapping the yoke, but it remains stiff. I checked and am confident that no roller is out of place and there is only one plastic clip in each cap...
I measured the old and new ujs and the new one seems to be .4 of a milimeter wider, coming in at 75mm instead of the advertised 74.6mm.

But if that is the problem, why does it work perfectly in one direction, but not the over? I am a bit at a loss here and hope one of you experts might give me a hint.
Cheers!
P.S.:
