How do they do the brake testing?

I thought that they had to road test defenders ( and other similar 4x4s) using a decelerometer, and that traditional brake rollers could cause damage?

I might be getting the wrong end of the stick, but I didn't think you could get figures like the ones on your test sheet without using a brake roller.

There ae no rollers involved. Someone told me there is a gadget placed on the front seat and when the brakes are hit this gives the results. That is the low tech description I was given. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Interesting, as that's what I'd expect,

But then I don't get how they can derive results for each axle and/or any imbalance?

Neither do I. I know someone who has got a job testing vehicles but he is still undergoing the training course. When he finishes the course and is working I will get more exact details. It may take a few weeks but when I get the info I will post it up. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

They are tested on rollers. The rollers run in opposite directions so as not to wind up the diff.
