Dashboard dandruff
I get loads of small white specks all over my dash. Doesn’t happen with any of my other vehicles, seems to be unique to my Defender.

Anyone else get this?

Got this too. I'm unable to remove the white dots, tried everything chemical and clay.

Is there an anti-reflection coating on there? If so, it's not been prepared properly and is coming off. You sometimes see this on spectacles. It could also be due to you using something to clean it that's really not suitable.

YES
2020 Defender X, inservice date 12/20.

I notice little white specs all over my center console, wireless charger, cupholder, and on the horizontal dash leather parts. On the little shelf next to the instrument cluster. Etc.

I wipe them up... a few days later, after I've only driven with windows/sunroof closed, these small white specs are back. They wipe up and it seems like dust in that manner (not permanent)...but it's puzzled me.

The ONLY thing I can think. I notice the windshield washer fluid dries into a white substance. Perhaps it's that.

I was serious with the Spider poo comment! Living in a very old house we are plagued with it and it often looks like your image.

Google image to show , comes in a variety of colours depending on what they have eaten!

Another classic feature carried over. All Series and Defenders come from the factory with a resident spider or two Very Happy
Spider poo is often white spots, and is difficult to remove especially if baked in the sun.

Let me see if this photo uploads…

Definitely not spider poo. It’s almost like ash.

Looking at your photo, again, exact same condition on my L663 ! It's a mystery! I wonder if it's something with the cabin air filter coming apart ?

And it does seem like ash.

I do have the 2.5ppm "air ionization" option, do you?

I get it in my Mini as well, especially on the piano black bits and the digital (it’s really semi-analogue) dash in front of the driver.

My Disco2 suffers from a similar problem, which (I suspect) may be "headlining dandruff" since the Disco2 is notorious for having a biodegradable headlining. It will be interesting to see if it happens when/if I finally get round to re-covering the headlining.

It also mainly collects on the steering column shroud, where of course it is particularly noticeable, and my theory for this is that it is due to the fitment of the little sucker for the climate control temperature sensor being located adjacent to the column and the fan in the sucker creating an eddy current towards the column. A totally unproven theory of course, but it seems plausible to me.

Could it be coming from the regen cycle of the DPF and getting into the vehicle somehow?
