Hi folk
Bought a trailer back from Lincolnshire yesterday. The trailer, a Brian James Cargo Shifter had a 13 Pin plug fitted while my Beast has two 7 pin sockets. I fitted a 13 > 7 Pin adapter and all trailer lights functioned correctly. I should add my Defender90 is LED lit and the trailer was normal bulb. What I didn't have was the green "Trailer" Warning light illuminated on the dash. First thought is the bulb, but rather than taking the dash apart at this stage ... are there a pair of contacts I can short together to test the bulb circuit OR is there another way? ... and is there anything else I should check or be aware of?? Hi John,
With the trailer cable disconnected the trailer indicator light should come on when you first put on the indicators. It should only flash once with the left / right indicator warning light and then extinguish. Try disconnecting the trailer cable and putting on your indicators. If it doesn't work then the bulb may have blown. Hope this helps. Andy |

When the Led indicators were fitted was the relay changed? The Led one may need tuning to work correctly with trailer connected. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

This. Your LED indicators don't provide enough load to activate the trailer light. Either fit an adjustable flasher relay and tune as Ramsay suggests or fit load resistors to the indicators (or go back to bulbs). Hi Ramsey - thanks for your reply. Yes relay was changed and I recollect there was an adjuster knob on the top. 2010 Defender 90 300Tdi CW (White/1994) 2021 Defender 90 300Tdi SW (Blue/1994) Last edited by Cubflyer on 27th Feb 2022 5:03pm. Edited 1 time in total |

A BIG thank you to all who replied Bulb tested OK so attached my trailer light board and then went to the LED light relay.
