Gutter mounts for strapping - NOT for rack or bars???
I frequently have to take my 110 under a height bar, into local car park.

I also want to be able to occasionally strap my surf bords to the roof.

I can do this via a 'soft rack' set up. Basically 30mm ratchet strap and two foam pads.

So I am looking for a secure eyelet mount for the strapping that does not protrude above the roof line.

Plenty of brackets and mounts but all seem to be for attaching bars or a rack to.
in the links below

Wondered if anyone has a more elegant solution?

I'm not sure that what you're after is really possible. The problem with a gutter clamp alone is that it won't have any lateral strength and any force that you put on it, say with a ratchet strap, is likely to twist the gutter.

They only work with bars and racks because of the rigid junction with whatever spans across the roof.

I'd suggest a couple of roof bars as they only take a few minutes to fit. Darren

Hmm, I think you need an Ineos Grenadier, with its integral rubbing strips on the roof and its integral securing bars where the Defender has alpine windows! Very Happy

I have a pair of Thule roof bars that are very quick to screw on/off; no tools required.

They could be yours for a small fee. Just not got around to posting them in the For Sale section yet.

You could fit cargo tracking just below the gutter line then use clip in tie down rings, this would work better on a 2 door as you’d get a longer length for strapping, not sure if it would be long enough for a surf board on a 4 door.
This stuff…

Doesn't solve the height bar issue though... Darren

Hm. Good point. I had thought the angle of pull would be mainly vertical, as the strap would have to go up over the roof, but having taken a second look I think you're right.

How about https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/collections/car...ack-ltrack

Looks like you run the track just under the gutters.

Surely under the gutter would foul the doors opening?
