United Kingdom 1997 Defender 90 300 Tdi ST Nato Green
[SOLD] 5x 255/85R16 BF Goodrich KM1's on Wolf Wheels
Hi. Up for sale are 5x 255/85R16 BF Goodrich KM1's on Genuine Land Rover Wolf Rims. Possibly the best Defender wheel and tyre combo available!
The rims have been recently refurbed and painted in alpine white, with the tyres re-sealed and balanced.
The tyres themselves have a few offroad scars on the tread blocks, tread depth is 10-12mm, the sidewalls are unmarked and they all hold air, so plenty of life left in them!
These are currently fitted to my 90 as shown, but will soon be removed and available for collection towards the end of Feb.
I'm only swapping to smaller diameter wheels so I can get into the garage!
£600. Located nr Stratford upon Avon.

Do you know what age the tyres are?
Should a year / month code on the sidewall.

Thanks

Hi,
Tyres are dated 33 to 41 in 2007.
Dry stored historically so no UV damage / cracking and the rubber is still soft. Instagram: l90andy

Do you need spacers or they straight fit? What does this combo do to the lock?

I've run that combination in the past (albeit KM2s by then) and can confirm they fit straight on with no spacers needed, and have a negligible effect on steering lock. Depending on you current size you might have to adjust the lockstops slightly (it is a taller tyre than a standard 235/85) but the difference is not noticeable in normal use.

They are a great size for a Defender, personally I think they look and perform better than any other size, and although the KM1 hasn't been made for a while it was an astonishingly hard-wearing tyre - I was able to get 100,000 miles from the the first set I fitted to my Disco2. Admittedly I kept them on longer than I normally would have done to see if this was possible, they were still completely legal (and had more tread than most car tyres have when new) but didn't have much off-road effectiveness towards the end. You should certainly be able to get 80k from a set, unless you drive like a loony.

I always felt that for UK terrain the original KMs (i.e., these) were a better tyre (better compound and tread pattern) than the later ones, which have tended to get softer with each revision. All the generations of KM though remains stunningly good dual purpose tyres, you won't get better, the only downside buying new is the price.

If I didn't already have KM3 on both my Def and Disco I'd have jumped at this set! Actually it would be a good price for just the rims.

Aren't 10yrs old + tyres a mot failure?

I don't believe so, they do check overall condition though, which clearly is good with these as they passed an MOT in November Thumbs Up Instagram: l90andy

10 year rule
Only on the steering axles is a fail re HGV/PSV MOT, an advisory is given for other axles.

As stated by other's, if in good condition with plenty of tread and limited, preferably no cracking or other damage they should be fine. If I lived nearer myself I would have been interested, they are indeed a fine combination - GLWTS

Thanks all for your inputs and enquiries. These are now off the car and ready to go.
As others have said, these are a really great combo on Defenders so I think £600 is still a good price, however I'll happily listen to offers around that mark.
Collection preferred but could wrap for a courier if you wish to organise.
