Since the BORC isn't running in 2022and the Welsh Hillrally is on the 27-29th May, it looks like the first event could be the AWDC Safari at Walter's Arena on the 20th March. No doubt Bowler will post updates on social media neater the time. 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

The Ford Bronco is so much more capable than the 2020 Defender offroad and almost certainly more reliable! Having just got back from 9 days in Johnson Valley at King of the Hammers, i got to witness the outstanding capability of the new Bronco first hand. It's fantastic to see Ford offering a Factory production Bronco with 37" tyres, lockers front and rear and fox live valve suspension etc, etc. At The King of the hammers, which for those of you not in the know, is the biggest festival of offroad racing in the world, atracting well over 100,000 spectators. And out of the tens of thousands of 4x4's there, I only spotted one 2020 Defender 90 and it looked feeble compared to the typical american pickups, Bronco's Jeep's etc. Landrover you really are put to shame by the Ford Bronco! |

Would love them to be available over here. Towing capacity is a bit s*** though which is one area the Defender wipes the floor with it. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

The Defender has never been a hardcore off-roader. Defender, Land Cruiser, G-Wagen, Patrol, etc etc are all fundamentally utility vehicles/overlanders.
In fact the whole rock-crawler/mega suspension thing is a pretty uniquely American obsession… the wrangler and bronco etc are pretty much in a category of their own entirely developed for the US market. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

So annoyed by this - the venue seemed to be kept quiet..turns out, it was on my doorstep at Walters Arena just 10 miles away..!
This seems to be the next venue/date for anyone interested https://www.btrdarally.com/kielder-forest-rally/ 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

Bowler have been cagey about the whole thing from the start - bizarre. Point blank refused to answer my questions around whether it was possible to spectate etc. Cheers, David

I never mentioned it at the time because I could not find anything online to back up what I was told.
When I was at AJS last year they told me that Bowler had taken some vehicles over to Iceland for a rally but then called it a ‘shake down’ because they all failed. Again no further details so I never bothered to mention it. Shame to hear that JLR/ Bowler aren’t actively promoting these events, remember the old Ford saying, Race on a Saturday, sell cars on the Monday……..guessing with the chip shortage excuse they have nothing to sell apart from promises. Or don’t their clientele like getting their brown loafers dirty and mixing with the lower classes…….. |
