It's even more bizarre than that, items such as this are deemed warranty items and so there's a chargeable item for the dealer to claim.
Maybe it's small change for them - 1.8 hours of labour (no doubt at an internal rate) or maybe they just have the staff employed on more lucrative work for owners who are paying direct. |

Had a chat with the dealer, car going in Tuesday to sort out the TCU issue. I wonder how many other owners out there are patiently waiting for the SOTA update that will never arrive.
After having a long conversation about how the system supposedly works it seems LR are aware of which cars aren't in contact with the servers, these are then flagged for dealer updates when they're in the workshop for recalls or servicing. I wouldn't bet on a dealer doing it though!!! 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon 1971 Bowler Tomcat 88 4.2 V8 Auto 2022 110 D250 XS Edition - Gone 2024 110 D250 X-Dynamic HSE |

I got the update via the dealer, I had connectivity issues since the day I picked it up. The dealer had to get permission from LR to install the new update. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Think LR are realising theres issues with the OTA system, especially when you see the TSBs Supacat posted. Hopefully flashing it with new software will sort the issue as the car only came of the line on the 17th Dec!!! 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

How long is a piece of string? There really doesn't seem to be any order in which Land Rover are pushing out the update to people, I got mine about 2 months after delivery others have had to wait much longer. I know some people have taken their car into the dealer to get the update but I think it depends on how accommodating your dealer is. Cheers Ian

There is some logic to the update I worked out, but I can’t say it makes sense.
Things like order in the queue, vehicle status, journey, downloads, queue sota server pressures etc I understand not overloading sota servers but why you can’t tell it to pull an update and see it’s queued etc is beyond me Mike |
