standard wheels and tyre package

hi guys
can anyone tell me what the standard tyre and rim size is please

i honestly cant remember
im running 275/65/18,s at the moment
but the only 275 MT tyres i can find with the speed rating i want is 275/70/18
will this be ok , currently no tyre rub , but i have had the stops moved
can i go any bigger than 275 width , might give me options ?
i DO like the chunky look
its a 2010 puma utility , not that it wwill make a difference i dount ?

the wheels are silverline (twisted) black alloys , 5 spoke by the way !
any ideas gratefully received

It depends, to an extent, what spec the vehicle is but typical for XS vehicles are 235/85 tyres on 16 x 7 inch Boost alloys. Darren

Much more choice in mud terrain if you come down from an 18inch wheel to 16 or even 15

These are 315/75/16 in a BFG KM3 (roughly same size as 35x12.5

Hi

You should be fine with 285/65/18 with standard suspension depending on your wheels. Not sure Boost alloys are wide enough for them. Also, depending on offset, you may need 20mm or 30mm spacers.

I have 285/75/16s on Bowlers (ET10 offset with 20mm spacers) which are roughly the same overall diameter.. No fouling issues and the tread is just about inside the standard arches so no MOT issues.

You’ll just need to check your rims are wide enough and also offset. You may well need spacers to avoid fouling on the arches.

Ps -pretty sure you can get MTs in that size.

hmmm to be honest im struggling to get any 275or 285/65/18
i really like the 18 inch rims though tbh .

When I was looking at both 16 and 18 inch Bowlers a couple of years ago, Cooper STT Pros were available in 285/65/18, which are a MT tyre. Looks like they must have stopped making them since then…

Don’t know what they’re like, but Radar Renegades appear to be available in that size if you google it. £150 a pop.

The stt pros in that size are only speed rated to 68mph so no much use in the uk

275/70 18 will give you 842mm diameter.

Two common Defender sizes are:

255/85 16 = 840mm diameter.

285/75 16 = 834mm diameter.

So 275/70 18 should fit ok, but this will also depend on the et of your current wheels.
Also bear in mind that 275/70 should ideally go on 8 “wide rims (although many squeeze them on 7” rims), I don’t know what yours are , but it’s worth checking. 2002 td5 90 county hardtop

they are maxxtrac manta (very old twisted) before silverline became the only importer
18 inch , they were fitted with 275/65/18 by silverline years ago , they are just old the tyres i mean so want to replace for peace of mind but much appreciated
im running this size tyres now so assume its safe to do so , silverline know their stuff
