I actually prefer it over using media center - easy to move between podcasts, audio books, playing radio stations or playlists on Spotify. Now you can use it for making calls etc. but I haven’t bothered with that yet. Only downside is you need connectivity, but for most of the UK that’s not an issue anymore. |

1) Got to your Amazon account settings in a browser.
2) Find the Alexa bit. 3) The listen to all the recordings of what you were doing when you didn't know Alexa was listening. 4) Disable Alexa on all your devices |

For those who have Alexa, is the voice recognition any better than LR’s built in voice recognition that never seems to be able to carry out even the simplest of voice instructions?
Also can anyone tell me why I would want Alexa in my car? The infotainment is only ever used to listen to Radio 4 or Classic FM when the Archers is on the 3rd repeat of the week or I’m not enjoying listening to the Afternoon Play…… I use the built in navigation and the OS app on a small iPad when the roads on the Nav run out. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

I honestly can’t see the appeal. If I found myself wanting to talk to my car I would check myself in for sectioning.

Tomorrow a longer journey will bring more insight, however so far Alexa is quicker and more reliable than the original LR VR system which couldn't swap between radio stations when requested or cancel guidance! Heaven help us when JLR move to automatous driving. At the moment its bad enough being steered into an oncoming tractor on a narrow road. If I could get rid of that!!!! Everything turned off relating to the feature but it still has a death wish or perhaps just trying to check its collision software is functioning. Its never steered me to the near side. 2020 Defender 110 SE 240D: Fuji White. 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE 2007 Freelander2 HSE (man) |

I had to read the post when i saw the title. I couldn’t believe it. I can’t think of anything worse. I’d be livid if ‘they’ can just put features on your car overnight. I can see it now, ‘overlanders’ sat outside their Defenders on the beach shouting “ALEXA, SKIP’ |

I won't allow it in my house - let alone in my cars. However, those space rockets don't pay for themselves...
