The electric windows and heated seats switches were relocated to the cubby box. After much solvent welding of plastic and sanding i primed and painted the fascia.
Fitting the double din stereo in the dashboard requires modification to the clock housing, stereo mounting & the dash underneath the fascia. But it does fit just!
I've probably made it sound quite a straight forward affair but as my son will testify it took a lot of time but i got the design right in the end. I will try and write a thread on it and upload some photos on how to do it, in the meantime feel free to pm me and i will try and help anyone else who wants to have a go. Once i have tidied up the shed I might even make up another one if anyones interested?
I wanted to keep an OEM look to it with original switches but you could make it a lot easier if you used aftermarket switches. The end result is that it is possible to fit a double din stereo in the defender fascia, that meant i could have my sat nav and rear view camera with just one screen and without the worry that the dog would snap off a motorised display.
