They are blind.
I suggest you use a left hand drill, if you do it is likely that you'll get the broken fragment out without damaging the thread. If it needs retapping you're better off Helicoiling. |

As blackwolf said.
Can use the drive member to center the drill. Ideally use a sleeve in the drive member hole and use a smaller drill bit, but you could get the V just started with a drill same size as the drive member bolt hole, and then switch to smaller drill bit. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Cheers gents. I’ve bored out a 10mm cap head with a 6.5mm drill (any bigger and the wall thickness was a bit suspect!), so I’ll send that through first and then work up to tapping size.
