I can't speak for BAS as I'm an Alive fan but as for a remap, yes absolutely, you'll be getting a different vehicle entirely in which there don't appear to be any downsides. I've heard this said before but after the first drive you just have to wonder why the #### LR did not release the vehicle like this in the first place. Trouble is it's addictive, you will also be up for intercooler, exhaust and prop shaft upgrades in the near future. The standard intercooler is a joke and makes you wonder why they bothered. |

Hi
Worth while doing it just to beat Corsa's away from the traffic lights! I did mine and thought the service from Pete was fantastic. I find it most noticeable in 5th and 6th, and there is a lot less gear changing. Can't really see any better mpg, this is most likely down to enjoying a bit more power. No hesitation in recommending BAS remap. Cheers Mike |

'could' be arranged .. where in london are you? I'm in north Surrey, and mine has a Bell/IRB remap with EGR 'mapped out' and limiter removed. If you are willing to travel this way i'l happily take you for a spin ![]() |

Really? I thought it was actually quite ok? Seriously. It's quite large, isn't it? To those who have done it: will I notice a larger intercoller with my Alive remap? And will it do the engine good? I'm not really racing the Landy even with my remap. I thought I didn't have to bother about the intercooler ... |

In short, the XDB hoses and Alive/Serck intercoolers allow for a more aggressive PCM software map. The Serck intercoolers Gary uses are a very nice bit of kit.

Here's a photo of the 2 standing side by side so you can decide for yourself. With the standard item you don't really have an intercooler. ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Ok, I see what you mean. Looks a lot bigger. Should I go that way, too, even if I am happy with my non-aggressive Alive map?
Guess it will take some heat strain off the engine? BTW, sorry for hijacking this thread. I don't know about BAS personally but have read only good about him. I have an Alive map and am very happy about customer support. The map itself was a revelation compared to the original one. Now I'm really thinking about that intercooler ... |

My decision to replace was made on the basis that I live in a hot climate and the defenders performance was noticeably better in winter. Diesels thrive on cool dense air.
I had no idea how small and crappy the original item was until I removed it. Had I known earlier there would have been no decision to make. The original is a delicate plastic and aluminium fabrication which I suspect won't last very long. Replacing it with a properly made pressure tested fully metal item gives piece of mind long term. If you are keeping the vehicle you may as well replace it now. ![]() |
