Unread post.
When clicking on the topic you wish to read, it would, in my opinion, be better if it went to the unread post within that topic. I know it can be done via the yellow star, but why not just combine this function into the heading. At what point would I want to read the entire topic fro:the start again.

I also wish we had a like button for posts, to show you agree with a post, rather than putting “what they said” or repeat an answer that has been typed. But I know this has been discussed before.

Once you read a post if you comment or click "watch", you'll get emailed with new comments with a link that takes you to the start of the new comments.

With out getting too Facebook I'd like a like button to show support without necessarily commenting. Especially when watching build threads I don't necessarily want to comment after each post but do want to show I'm reading and enjoying it.

Thumbs Up James

Hi Andy,

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the yellow star you’ve mentioned, so maybe it’s different with different platforms or gadgets, but ( on android and iPad) my approach is usually:

“New posts”
Then at the far right of the post bar, next to the name of the last poster, I see a small arrow and document icon. This takes me to the last post.

Is this where the yellow star is located, and does the same thing?

I guess I find that’s OK for me.

I’m not wanting to follow a post, I just want to continue to read it from where I last did. I don’t see why the prime choice is to read the topic from the start, rather than where you last caught up with it. (Sorry Censored , at writing/explaining what I want to say)

Agree completely with just wanting to show support or agree with a post.

This is what I see.

If I press the yellow star it takes me to the post after where I last read to. But to me it makes sense to just select the topic, such as “start to finish” post and that to take me to the next post from my last viewing. Why bother with yellow star?

I do understand non of this is important Thumbs Up

I've not seen the yellow star before, what platform are you using?

I'm not sure I understand what you want really. If you want to continue reading a thread from where you left off to me that is following a thread. You don't get notified of every post just the next one. James

Hi Andy,

I'm on an iPad and Safari normally, and I don't see those little stars.

Like I say, I routinely go to "new posts", then the screen gives me a list of all the new posts, in all forums, since I last visited. As below.

The little "note" icon (circled) takes you to the last post in the thread. I grant you that this may not take you to the last place you left the topic, but if it's something you've been following, it will at least take you somewhere closer.

I find it's enough for me. Donald

If you click on the little brown icon to the left of the thread title then it takes you to the last unread post, although it sometimes gets slightly confused if there are lots of pictures to load. Darren

I don’t have a brown icon. I just think clicking on the topic title should take you to the new info on the post. Nice a simple.

It is simple! Works for me on PC and Android platforms, with every browser I have tried too.

Click the correct icon and you can shortcut to the first unread post or to the last post. Couldn't be simpler.

Thanks for all the comments on this.

Bear in mind that 'fixing' this for you so that clicking the title takes you to the first unread post will break it for many others who will get different behaviour than they are used to.

I haven't (and won't) implement a thanks/like feature just because other social media platforms have made it the norm - I feel it's better to add your own words in thanks than simply pressing a button. It also removes any possibility of posting for popularity - just to gather likes/thanks.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

By the way, the little grey page with arrow to the LEFT of the thread title takes you to the first unread post in a thread Smile Wink  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yes I know about grey page, but to me, I have to use a symbol on the left to select forum then symbol on the right for the latest of that topic so just all over the screen which also stops single hand navigation. It’s what other forums that I use have switched to. But as I say it doesn’t matter it was just a suggestion as I can’t see the point when I’ve already read a topic to a point that I would want to read from the start again.
