Mine does not rotate that freely either.
Keep in mind that wd40 is not a good lubricant. It is a Water Dispersant (hence the name). Use a bit of engine oil or something similar. I have been oiling it for the last couple of days and it is not much better
If I take the fan off I can't turn the spindle by hand. I also gets very warm by the spindle quite quickly. Rest of the motor body is cool enough . I think I'll give it another couple of days and see how we go. Need to wait or the new seals and paint the box before it goes back on anyway. Thanks. |

Anyone know what the difference between RHD and LHD blower motors is? One is £40 cheaper than the other
Surely it can't be that much different, a motor is a motor after all Perhaps they spin opposite ways. If so, could I just reverse the power going to it? |

The vanes on the impeller might be curved in the wrong direction, as those need also match the scroll, which is a mirror image of the one on RHD vehicles.

Have you tried rotating the motor with an electric drill? Push and pull the motor shaft while doing so to massage the oil in.

Don’t use WD40. It makes some plastics swell.

Well, although I would not say it spins 'freely' it does spin well when connected up so I have decided to stick it back in and see how we go.
I have cleaned up the housing, repainted and fitted new foam seals to try and make it as efficient as poss. Issue I have now is that it only works on low speed when connected up. The switch appears to be OK and power is getting to it. I swapped the low speed wire onto the high speed terminal and it span, just at low speed. I have tested the resistor and it reads 2.3 ohms which I believe is correct. Next job is to put power directly to the 3 pin connector on the fan housing and see how that behaves. Any ideas where the issue may lie? Cheers. |

I think I have got to the bottom of it.
1. The wires were connected incorrectly on the dash switch so position 1 was actually the feed for speed 2. Hence it working on 'low speed' but not on 'high speed' 2. Power is getting through on both settings but the reduced voltage on speed 1 was not enough to overcome the physical resistance of the stiff motor so it was failing to turn. I have sourced a complete second hand housing with motor so will swap over the motor and we should be good to go |
