Evening all, came back from a trip out and halfway home heard this lovely sound, any ideas? No warning light, oils fine, water fine, cannot see any leaks or fractured pipes etc.

Check the injectors are tight, and not leaking.

Does sound injector related.
Remove the black plastic injector cover (2 bolts at the front) You will see four injectors (blue below) held in place by two clamps (green below), each one clamping a pair of injectors. Give each injector and clamp a wiggle to check the clamps are tight and adequately retaining the injectors > 110 XS Double Cab |

This is much like the sound that mine made when the retaining bolt shown in Hank's picture failed on the school run. The sound was caused by a tiny amount of movement of the high pressure pipe/injector. I made a bid for the dealership 6 miles away and got halfway there before the pair of injectors came completely adrift and we coasted gently to an unpowered stop.
My daughter remembers it as the day when the Landy made even more embarrassing noises than usual outside the school gate. |

you can see injector 3 bouncing in your vid. easy enough fix with a new set of copper washers and stretch bolts. you might as well change all washers while you're there.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, took the cover off today and injectors 3/4 were bouncing around like billyho, I’m taking it in on Monday for a diagnostic check and will mention it then, appreciate all the replies, thanks once again.

as hanks says. driving it with them loose will not do the head any good.
Just give the clamp a nip up (not too much. think the spec is only 7Nm and 180degrees) |

Even if you just “nip” them up before driving. I wouldn’t recommend driving it with them loose.

Just a quick update, couldn’t tighten them up as away from home and no tools, drove it very slowly to the garage, it was the injectors, tightened up, full diagnostic, running sweet, thanks again for all the help, much appreciated Cogito ergo sum
