Returned home after a 15 day 2800 mile return trip from Hook of Holland to Lillehammer in Norway ...
We covered Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway during the journey and had some of the best weather of the year as well, but the last 3 days through Germany and Holland soon redressed the balance with strong winds and heavy rain. Lots of stops to take photos enjoy the views. (to be posted at a later date) The long bridge into Sweden was a real work of art, as was the long dyke in the north of Holland, but the Dalsland Canal triple deck canal/rail/road and river crossing in Sweden took the biscuit for engineering marvel and spectacular scenery. The 110 was really well behave and had no issues. The Dormobile bits all worked fab and we had lots of great camp sites! (some a tad more 'camp' than others after dark….!) Sweden, Denmark and Norway were technically closed for the general tourist as everything seems to shut at the end of August. Food, fuel and water were easily found, but most shops didn’t open till 10 am. Fuel was cheapest in Holland (128 euro) and as you would expect most expensive in Norway (147NCron) We spent more time in Norway than we expected so didn’t get up to the Sammi lands as we had hoped – but there is always next time!! Took my wife to collect her disgraced Discovery after having ACE pipes AND fuel pressure regulator replaced Then towed a trailer for the first time with my new Dixon Bate tow hitch. The only indication that the trailer was there were the two rear corner marker poles bobbing away in the back window Darren

nearly squashed myself doing rear prop on 90, then had to visit "High Corner Public house" to recover, nice little pub in New Forest, involves a bit of off-road to get there too .. nice beer, great atmosphere and picked some sloes for the forthcoming sloe-gin making.
90's prop shafts all replaced, tested out new grease gun end and greased the hell out of all my prop shafts on the 90 and 110... "alls well that ends well" |
