Hi and welcome to the group
When did it leave the RAF? It looks like it has always been civilian registered and has Mots since 2012 when it reached 3 years old. Last edited by camelman on 20th Jan 2022 9:56am. Edited 1 time in total |

My MY 2008 90 2,4 was ex RAF first registered on UK roads in 2012. In my case it was originally white and painted BT yellow and then back to white. I guess never left the air field so only registered when it was sold on.

Thanks Barneyboy - not sure on the colour as i suspect it's been resprayed. It's an ivory white but i need to get the colour ar there are some areas to improve. I was after and XS but was sucked in by the looks. My plan was to get a sorted vehicle by November this year when i hand back a 2018 BMW M4 that i have on finance. Lockdown has proved we don't need two nearly new cars on the drive and i wanted to get get back to a proper car (analogue not digital if you get me). I also need a tow car and always wanted a landrover. Wallis Defenders are just down the road too so if there are jobs beyond my capabilities I'm sorted. I've built not bought cars before, i have a Nova GSi Rally Car inthe garage which is not used at all so I plan to move that on to fund the Defender Project.
camelman - the vehicle was first registered by the Ministry Defence Police (MDP) Wethersfield and after a quick google it seemd MDP HQ was established at Wethersfield in the 1990s. To be honest I think i could have bought better.....I hope she can't hear....I'll post what I've done so far in the next post... |

Itโs always hard to tell from a pic, but the paint colour looks like Limestone LRC007.
Donโt worry about โI could have bought better โ even the most experienced LR folks think that when they start using it/stripping it down. ๐๐ |

So I got the vehicle early December.... here's a quick list of what's been done so far:
Had squeaky aux belt replaced (i didn't do that job as there was an oil leak which needed fixing too, so Wallis did that) Re-instated tow electrics....tow ball in place but no socket Fitted side steps...Fire & Ice style with black chequer plate to match existing work Fixed broken rear door lock Refitted 3rd row seats so they actually work (frames were on the wrong side) Replaced the passenger seat base (vinyl twill) Replaced wipers Fitted Momo steering wheel and Optimil boss....more room (I'm 6'2") Replaced knackered rear shocks and top mounts....Terrafirma fitted WIPAC LED Headlights with Halo from Lucari Solutions....need help here as only drivers-side working (will add more in seperate post) The plan from here is for sound deadening and carpets to be added, then new seats, new roof lining and stereo/sat nav..... Oh and there's no spare wheel....so i need to get that sorted There's 112k on the clock so mecahnically it probably need a good service....

|

As you may have seen on the above thread I finally sorted the headlights. Tonight I got around to putting it all back together. I'd just like to say that worst bit was getting the upper and then lower shroud back around the steering column....what a pain. The rubbers around the stalks and light switch are just impossible to fit back into them and i ended up tearing the rubber a bit. Whilst i was there I took the fascia off to investigate the heater control problem. On the air direction I can only select screen or screen + feet. Couldn't see anything obvious so put it back together. Afterwards though I found a couple of threads on here which may help. So I will have another go another day. Next jobs... New wheel and tyre as a spare... Replace rear beam bolts for stainless... Handbrake adjustment? |
